Self Defense

Attack: Two Hand Push
Defense: One foot steps in while the other foot steps backwards deflecting the push. Both hands push the opponent’s arms inward. The front side hand pushes on top while grabbing the wrist. Front side hand pushes downward to trap both of the opponent’s arms. Back side hand strikes to the neck or temple.

Attack: Same Side Wrist Grab
Defense: Same side hand turns upward to force the opponent’s hand underneath. Opposite side hand reaches under to grab the opponent’s hand and twists driving the elbow of the opponent back into himself. As the opponent’s hips and shoulders twist, you can optionally grab the lapel or ear with the same side hand and take down with a low block.

Falling

Side fall from standing

Self Defense

Attack: Punch
Defense: Same side foot steps to the side while same side hand parries across and sweeps down in a low block motion. Opposite side hand meets the opponent and transitions the flow into a backwards throw using a motion similar to an inside block. Step forward and front kick with the opposite side foot to the downed opponent’s ribs or face. Stepping down near the opponent, pull the opponent’s elbow against the inside of the shin to execute an arm bar. To get low enough, let the same side foot slide up into X-stance.

Attack: Hair Grab
Defense: Immediately reach up and lock the opponent’s hand to your head so that your hair cannot be pulled with your opposite side hand on the bottom. Curl your fingers underneath the opponent’s palm and torque the wrist into a center lock taking the opponent down.
